Après que l'Immortel Sugimoto, alias Sugimoto Saichi, et la jeune Aïnoue Asirpa se soient retrouvés dans les contrées glacées de Karafuto, Asirpa assiste à la mort de Kiroranke et se souvient de la clé permettant de résoudre le mystère de l'or disparu. Sugimoto et Asirpa renouvellent alors leurs vœux de partenariat. Mais rien de tout cela ne change le fait que Sugimoto est sous le contrôle de la 7e Division. Tandis qu'ils poursuivent leur conflit avec le lieutenant Tsurumi, qui apprend qu'Asirpa a été retrouvée, comment Shiraishi Yoshitake, Tanigaki Genjirou, Tsukishima Hajime et Koito Otonoshin, après leur périlleux voyage, vont-ils réagir ? Pendant ce temps, le vice-commandant démoniaque du Shinsengumi, Hijikata Toshizou, et sa bande, en compétition avec la 7e Division pour l'or, continuent de rechercher des indices sur les tatouages restants. De plus, la disparition d'Ogata Hyakunosuke pourrait également influencer le cours des événements.
